- Significance: Pier 1 was the only open pier at the Brooklyn Army Supply Base. It was designed for lighterage and handling of very heavy equipment, and provided the most direct connection to the base's principal rail link through the adjacent Long Island Railroad yards.
The pier was largely intact. Upon the cessation of New York Dock operations inseveral locomotives were stored in the Brooklyn Army Terminal and then transferred to a carfloat and stored at the Fulton Terminal: four of the six BEDT ALCo S1's: #21, 23, 24 & 26, the two NYD RS3's: #56 & 57, and the four remaining NYD GE 50 tonners #51, 52, 54, 55, (#53 had been sold to.
